Copyright Infringement Policy

Millennium Beauty Institute complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) requirements regarding the unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material.

Policy Statement

Students, staff, and all users of institutional technology resources are prohibited from using school networks, computers, or other technology to illegally download, upload, distribute, or share copyrighted materials, including music, movies, software, images, or written works, without proper authorization from the copyright holder.

Penalties

Violations of copyright law may result in civil and criminal penalties. Under federal law, individuals found guilty of copyright infringement may face fines up to $150,000 per work infringed and, in some cases, criminal prosecution. Students who violate this policy may also face institutional disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal from the program.

Legal Alternatives

Students are encouraged to use legal sources for obtaining digital content, including licensed streaming services, authorized digital retailers, and content available under Creative Commons or public domain licenses.
